Public Interest Disclosure (PID)

Anyone who suspects wrongdoing within the ACT public sector can raise their concerns under the Public Interest Disclosure Act 2012 (PID Act).

Allegations made under the PID Act may be public interest disclosures (PID).

All ACT public sector entities have responsibilities under the PID Act to:

  • investigate suspected wrongdoing
  • keep disclosers informed regarding any investigation into suspected wrongdoing
  • take appropriate action

Conduct which may be the subject of a PID includes:

  • maladministration
  • conduct that is a danger to health, safety and the environment

The PID Act offers protection to disclosers (‘whistleblowers’) from detrimental action. For more information on PIDs please visit the Integrity Commission’s website.
