Issue 7 December 2023
New logo, new website, same great service
On Tuesday 21 November we launched a new website offering a wealth of information to assist both your employees and you, as an employer, to better understand portable long service in the ACT. We invite you to visit the new website if you haven’t already at https://actleave.act.gov.au/. You will notice some new features including a comprehensive FAQ page, a quick and easy contact form, and the ability to translate the site into over 20 languages!
We’re also excited to share that our forms have undergone a refresh. Now, you can conveniently complete them digitally and submit through our website. Our aim is to ensure your experience is as seamless and time efficient as possible. Your time is precious, and we genuinely value your engagement.
Important dates for the holidays
ACT Leave will be closed from 12pm on Friday 22 December 2023, until 8.30am on Tuesday 2 January 2024.
Please remind your employees if they are planning on taking long service leave over the holiday period, to submit their benefit claims to us as soon as possible to ensure payment before leave is taken. As it is such a busy time of year, we recommend that requests should be made 3-4 weeks ahead of taking leave.
Due to the holiday shutdown, quarterly return information will be generated on Thursday 14 December.
We wish you all a wonderful and safe holiday season!
Return and payment due date
Even though quarterly returns are being generated earlier, lodgement of all returns and payment for the quarter are due as usual on Wednesday 31 January 2024
Late fees will be charged for late lodgement of quarterly returns unless you have an extension of time. Contact us ahead of time if you need an extension or assistance with your return.
Employer payments
Please remember to use reference numbers when making payments.
Our preferred method of payment is via BPAY.
Interest may be applied to any outstanding amounts. If you feel you may not be able to make payment by the payment due date, please contact us to discuss your options.
No employees? Lodge a ‘nil’ return.
If you are a registered employer and no longer have employees, you are still required to lodge a nil return by the due date each quarter, or you may receive penalties for late lodgement.
Alternatively, if you wish to stop your registration and no longer lodge nil returns, please contact us.
We’re here to help!
