Important update: Changes to the Services Industry Scheme

On 20 March 2025 the Minister for Skills, Training and Industrial Relations announced changes to the upcoming Services Industry Scheme.

From 1 April 2025 the Contract Cleaning Industry Scheme will transition into the new Services Industry Scheme.

However, the new industries of hairdressing and beauty and food and accommodation services will now join the Services Industry Scheme on 1 July 2026.

This 15-month extended transition period provides employers in the new industries with more opportunity to understand their obligations under the legislation and register for the scheme.
