Change to levies

Recently we sent an email notifying an increase to employer levy rates for the below schemes. View the links below for your scheme specific levy information.

We are required to review the financial position of each portable long service leave scheme at least every 3 years. The latest review showed that due to a range of economic and demographic factors, levies would need to increase to maintain sufficient scheme funding.

Registering new employees

When registering new employees, make sure to provide their correct contact address information, including their unit number, street number, street name, suburb and postcode. Do not use your business address to register employees as we will be unable to mail correspondence to them at a business address—doing so could compromise the employee’s privacy, which is against privacy laws. Please also add their contact phone number and email address, if possible.

Return and payment due date

The lodgement of all returns and payment for the Jan-Mar 2024 quarter are due on Tuesday 30 April 2024.

We are here to help!

Contact us ahead of time if you need an extension or assistance with your return.

Payment reference number

A reminder to quote your payment reference number when making a payment to ACT Leave.

Your payment reference number is not the same as your employer number—though similar, it contains an extra digit on the end. You can find it in the payment details on your Return Payment Notice, noted as:

  • Customer Reference # (for BPay) or
  • Ref (for EFT).
A holiday reminder for your employees

With Easter just over a week away, and Anzac Day on the horizon—please let your employees know if they are planning to take some long service leave during this period, they will need to submit their claims as soon as possible to ensure processing and payment before leave.

Anzac Day this year is on a Thursday, which means that our weekly claim payment run will be a day earlier, on Wednesday 24 April 2024.

Working together to improve Portable Long Service Leave in Australia

In February, representatives from all states and territories came together at the National Portable Long Service Leave Conference hosted by the Victorian Portable Long Service Leave Authority.

The conference provided a unique platform for leaders to engage in knowledge-sharing, discussions on common challenges and reaffirmed the importance of collective efforts, emphasising the need to leverage skills, knowledge, and expertise to support the work among all nine Portable Long Service Leave administrators across Australia. Key themes included the effective administration and growth of the schemes, the development and futureproofing of information technology systems, and maturing compliance and regulatory enforcement. Concurrent online sessions saw the active participation of senior staff from finance, legal, compliance and IT. The discussion covered a wide array of relevant topics, fostering collaboration and mutual exploration of challenges and opportunities.

We look forward to the continued success of this conference and the shared initiative in supporting the rights and benefits of over two million workers across multiple industries covered by these schemes around Australia.

No employees? Lodge a ‘nil return’.

If you are a registered employer and no longer have employees, you are still required to lodge a nil return by the due date each quarter, or you may receive penalties for late lodgement.

Alternatively, if you wish to stop your registration and no longer lodge nil returns, please contact us.

Don’t forget to submit a reimbursement claim!

You are entitled to a reimbursement from us for long service leave that you paid directly to any of your employees registered for portable long service leave, made under the provisions of the Long Service Leave Act 1976 or a related law (EBA).

To receive a reimbursement, just fill out and submit a Reimbursement to Employer claim form.
