2 December 2025

Claim payment processing during the holiday period
The last claim payment run for 2025 will be Thursday 18 December. Claims received after this date will be processed in the new year, with the first claim payment run of 2026 scheduled for Thursday 8 January.

If you plan to take long service leave over the holiday period, please submit your benefit claim as soon as possible to ensure payment is made before your leave starts.

Christmas closure
ACT Leave will be closed from 12pm on 24 December 2025. We will resume phone and online services from 2 January 2026, with the office reopening for in-person assistance on 5 January 2026.

Statements are being issued progressively by industry.

Services Industry Scheme Communication Kit for Employers
ACT Leave has developed a comprehensive Services Industry Scheme Communication Kit for all Services Industry employers, designed to help you prepare for your entry into the scheme on 1 July 2026.

The kit contains helpful information about the Services Industry Scheme, as well as resources to assist you to communicate with your employees about the scheme.

Workers can access them by logging into their MyGov portal.

The beginning of the new financial year is a good time to make sure your contact details are up to date. 

Remember to use your own email account, rather than a joint account or one belonging to a family member—this ensures we can always reach you with important information when we need to. 

You can update your contact details at any time in the client portal.

To be included in this payment, claims must have been submitted by Thursday 12 June 2025.

The Services Industry Scheme has commenced!
From today, 1 April 2025, the Contract Cleaning Industry Scheme no longer exists as a separate scheme and has been rolled into the new Services Industry Scheme. 

The new industries of hairdressing and beauty services and accommodation and food services, including hospitality services will join the scheme on 1 July 2026.

There are no changes to employer obligations or worker entitlements under the new scheme.

Planned portal outage
The client portals will be unavailable for approximately 60 minutes from 8am on 1 April 2025 to transition the Contract Cleaning Scheme into the new Services Industry Scheme.

Important update: Changes to the Services Industry Scheme
On 20 March 2025 the Minister for Skills, Training and Industrial Relations announced changes to the upcoming Services Industry Scheme. 

From 1 April 2025 the Contract Cleaning Industry Scheme will transition into the new Services Industry Scheme. 

However, the new industries of hairdressing and beauty and food and accommodation services will now join the Services Industry Scheme on 1 July 2026.

Change to payment reference details
Some payment reference details have changed with the launch of our new client portal.

Please take a moment to review your invoice and ensure that your payment reference is correct before processing your payment. This will ensure we can allocate your payment to your appropriate account.

Your new payment details can be found on your invoice as well as in the ‘How to Pay’ section on your dashboard in the new client portal.

Change to BPAY details for some Working Directors
With the launch of the new portal, BPAY payment details have changed for some Working Directors to enhance security, streamline payment processes, and integrate more seamlessly with the new system.

The new BPAY details are now in effect.

The new portal has an improved user-friendly dashboard and heightened security measures with Two-factor Authentication, providing a smoother and safer overall experience.

Important Client Portal information
ACT Leave is launching a new client portal to provide a more streamlined way of managing portable long service leave within the ACT.

To prepare for the launch of the new system, the current portal will be switched off from 3.55pm on Thursday 28 November 2024. From this time there will be no access to the portals, including for ACT Leave staff.

We expect the new portal will be available by Thursday 5 December 2024.

Learn more about the Services Industry Scheme
From 1 April 2025, portable long service leave coverage in the ACT will extend to eligible workers in the services industry with the commencement of the Services Industry Scheme.

The scheme incorporates the existing Contract Cleaning Industry Scheme and new industries of hairdressing and beauty services and accommodation and food services, including hospitality services.

Upcoming change to the Contract Cleaning Scheme
From 1 April 2025, portable long service leave coverage in the ACT will extend to eligible workers in the services industry with the commencement of the Services Industry Scheme.

Once the scheme commences, the Contract Cleaning Industry Scheme will no longer exist as a separate scheme and will instead be incorporated into the new Services Industry Scheme.

Employee annual statements are now available on the Worker Portal 
Your employee annual statement shows the number of service days your employer has recorded for work you performed in a covered industry within the ACT in the previous financial year, as well as the wages that have been recorded for you.

We recommend checking your statement carefully, as any missing service or incorrect information may affect your entitlement.

PAYG summaries for claims paid in 2023-2024
ACT Leave do not provide a PAYG payment summary when employees receive a benefit. Instead, workers receive an end of financial year income statement through the Australian Taxation Office (ATO) online services in myGov.

All payment summaries for long service leave claims paid in the 2023-24 financial year have been completed and lodged with the ATO, and can be accessed in your myGov account.

Want a claim paid before the end of June?
If you want to receive a claim payment before the end of the financial year, please submit your long service leave claim form as soon as possible to ensure we can process your request in time.

The last payment date for this financial year will be Thursday 27 June 2024. The first payment processing date for the new financial year will be Thursday 4 July 2024.

We cannot guarantee the payment of any claims submitted in the last week of June.

No employees? Lodge a ‘nil’ return.
If you are a registered employer and no longer have employees, you are still required to lodge a nil return by the due date each quarter, or you may receive penalties for late lodgement. Alternatively, if you wish to stop your registration and no longer lodge nil returns, please contact us.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION: Increase to the Security Industry levy rate
Effective from 1 July 2024, the levy rate for the Security Industry Scheme will increase to 1.47%. An email advising of the change was sent on 5 February 2024.

Effective from 1 July 2024, the levy rate for the Community Sector Industry Scheme will increase to 1.85%. An email advising of the change was sent on 5 February 2024.

New Services Industry Scheme 
Portable Long Service Leave has been expanded to allow workers in the hairdressing, beauty, accommodation and food services industries to accrue long service leave. The new scheme will start in April 2025.

Change to the Building & Construction levy
Effective from 1 October 2023, the employer levy rate for the Building and Construction Industry Portable Long Service Leave Scheme increased from 2.10% to 2.35%.
